Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta said in Abuja <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1140695574\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Friday<\/span><\/span> that the Maritime University would commence academic activities in Okerenkoko in October.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The governor announced this to State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in the Presidential Villa.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to him, a committee headed by the Minister of Education in which Delta State Deputy Governor is a member has been inaugurated to ensure the smooth take-off of the university.<\/div>\n<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cWe are also aware that a committee has been set up led by the Minister of Education; my deputy is part of the committee to work out the processes to enable the maritime university take off in October.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cIt is a step in the right direction. So, I came to appreciate (vice president) him and to discuss some other issues with him\u2019\u2019, he added.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okowa commended the vice president, whom he said had ensured peace in Delta in particular.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cIf you notice, in the past few months, there has been peace in Delta state. So, I wanted to appreciate his visit to Delta state because that definitely helped us in the peace process.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cAnd just yesterday, the Bill for the Maritime University, Okerenkoko, passed third reading at the Senate. That is definitely a very strong plus for us.\u2019\u2019<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=13085&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">On the prospects of revenue earnings from modular refineries in Niger Delta, the governor expressed the hope that such refineries would complement other regular refineries in the country.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Federal Government had given its nod for the Gbaramatu Modular Refineries (GMR).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">However, policies and regulatory frameworks that would ensure a friendly environment for the operations of all the refineries are being considered by the government.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that there are indications that government is projecting at least 20,000 barrels per day production capacity from the first modular refinery that would be licensed to operate.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okowa said a committee comprising Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, some management staff of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, and Deputy Governor of Delta, were drawing up blueprint for the modular refineries.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/MARITIME-UNIVERSITY.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14256\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/MARITIME-UNIVERSITY-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/MARITIME-UNIVERSITY-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/MARITIME-UNIVERSITY-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/MARITIME-UNIVERSITY.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cI think the processes are being put in place. President Buhari talks a lot about it and I believe the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the NNPC management have been working in that direction.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cModular refineries are not something that you can just bring up all <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1140695575\"><span class=\"aQJ\">in one day<\/span><\/span> or <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1140695576\"><span class=\"aQJ\">in one month<\/span><\/span>.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cI believe that the processes are being put in place to ensure that we have some of them in some of our communities in the creeks in the Niger Delta.\u2019\u2019 (NAN)<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
