Everybody is talking about Saudi Arabia and Iran, and both countries, frankly, because of their geopolitical reasons, because of their conflicts and competition for ascendancy, have radicalised and divided the Muslim world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd they\u2019ve held on to very conservative, very intolerant versions of the religion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said governments needed to take the training of Islamic scholars into deliberate considerations in order to quell violence across the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sanusi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11355\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sanusi-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sanusi-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sanusi.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe the Muslim world needs to shift its focus, in terms of where leadership has to come from; look at Malaysia, look at Morocco, look at Tunisia, look at Indonesia, why look at Saudi Arabia and Iran!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"g g-22\">\u00a0\u201cThat can only happen from the body of scholars within the different Muslim countries, who will change the discuss and say, \u2018you know what, this is not your role model. Your role model is not ISIS, your role model is not an Islam that says there is only one true interpretation of religion.<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=12838&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr that does not separate what is personal from what is public\u2026 Malaysia is a fantastic example of a Muslim country that has been able to live with its religion and also live in the modern world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy can\u2019t we be more like Malaysia, more like Morocco? Why do we have to be more like Iran and more like Saudi?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said governments need to do more in terms of training religious scholars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrain scholars, so that they create the kind of society we want,\u201d he said.
