IN 2009 BY JUDICIAL FRAUD"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo reference to Salamigate as another confirmation that the Minister of Mines and Steel Development and former governor of the State, Dr Kayode Fayemi only became the governor of Ekiti State through judicial fraud, maintaining that he (Fayemi) has never won any election in his life.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Salamigate is the terminology used to describe the controversial Appeal Court, Ilorin judgment delivered by Justice Isa Ayo Salami, which removed Engr Segun Oni of the PDP from office and declared Dr Kayode Fayemi governor of Ekiti State on October 15, 2010.<\/div>\n<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">While playing host to members of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Chapter, at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_156497720\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Sunday<\/span><\/span>, Obasanjo said; &#8220;&#8230;Our judges must be committed in fighting corruption. They must be committed to fighting corruption. Because if the \u00a0investigation is very sound and you have `ogbologbo\u2019 lawyer to handle the case, if you have Salamigate, you know what the answer will be.\u201d<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=12833&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Ekiti State PDP in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_156497721\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Monday<\/span><\/span> and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Jackson Adebayo, said; \u201cFayemi never won the 2009 rerun governorship election. Rather, he was awarded victory by Justice Salami after cancelling votes in wards where the PDP won and this has been further established by former President Obasanjo.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The PDP said Nigerians should recall that records of telephone calls and messages between Justice Salami and APC chieftains like Lai Mohammed before and after the judgment were made public, confirming that the judgment was obtained by fraud.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cIt should also be recalled that even programmes of Fayemi\u2019s swearing in ceremony and other souvenirs were printed more than two weeks before the judgment was delivered.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Olusegun-Obasanjo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13727\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Olusegun-Obasanjo-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Olusegun-Obasanjo-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Olusegun-Obasanjo-272x182.jpg 272w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Olusegun-Obasanjo.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cUp till today, that Appeal Court judgment of October 10, 2010 that made Fayemi governor is not being cited as authority in any election matter and with Obasanjo\u2019s reference to Salamigate as terminology for judicial manipulation, it should be clear to Fayemi himself that he became governor by judicial fraud.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cPerhaps, Fayemi may now have to ask Baba Obasanjo what he meant by Salamigate.
