{"id":13961,"date":"2017-04-07T19:32:19","date_gmt":"2017-04-07T19:32:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=13961"},"modified":"2017-04-07T19:32:19","modified_gmt":"2017-04-07T19:32:19","slug":"niger-delta-govs-other-stakeholders-scrabble-for-modular-refinery-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=13961","title":{"rendered":"NIGER DELTA GOVS, OTHER STAKEHOLDERS SCRABBLE FOR MODULAR REFINERY PROJECT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governors of the Niger Delta region are beginning to indicate interest in the Federal Government proposed Modular Refinery project as implementation efforts on the President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s New Vision for the oil-producing communities in the region progress.<\/p>\n<p>This came as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN on Thursday met with critical stakeholders including a delegations from Gbaramatu Kingdom on the federal government plans to develop the Modular Refinery concept as a panacea to illegal refineries in the region.<\/p>\n<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<p>Under the plan that is being developed, communities would come together, working with their respective State Governments, the Federal Government and Private Sector operators, to work out a template for the establishment of modular refineries in the communities, THEWILL had reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are saying there is a way out of violent agitation, but it is by creating opportunities and the environment where the people in the communities can benefit,\u201d Prof. Osinbajo said at the inter-ministerial meeting which is the second such meeting in the past few weeks working out how best to establish the modular refineries.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cwe will engage them on the basis of trust, we must prove to them that we are trust-worthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=12817&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The inter-ministerial meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro; Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uhuru; Petroleum Resources Minister of State, Dr Ibe Kachikwu; Environment Minister of State; Mallam Ibrahim Usman Jibril.<\/p>\n<p>The MD of NDDC, Mr Nsima Ekere; the DG of NIMASA, Mr Dakuku Peterside; and the head of the Amnesty Office, Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd), were also in attendance as other issues including developments on the planning for the Maritime University, update on contractors in the Niger Delta region returning to site and Amnesty issues among others were discussed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/market.jumia.com.ng\/smartphones\/?utm_source=pap&amp;utm_medium=aff&amp;utm_campaign=230d9c1a&amp;a_aid=Omafume&amp;a_bid=230d9c1a\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/\/kaymu.postaffiliatepro.com\/accounts\/default1\/a72f75b38\/230d9c1a.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"60\" \/><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"http:\/\/kaymu.postaffiliatepro.com\/scripts\/a72f75i38?a_aid=Omafume&amp;a_bid=230d9c1a\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Later the Vice President held a meeting with a delegation of representatives from the Gbaramatu Kingdom, who came with a group of US investors, under the aegis of the \u201cOil and Gas Producing Trust Fund,\u201d including prospective investors in a Modular Refinery project in the community.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting, the Vice President noted that the modular refineries to be established will have to be profitable and realistic in order to address critical issues bothering on the development of the region on a sustainable basis.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the Federal Government is committed to addressing challenges in the Niger Delta in a comprehensive manner saying \u201cthere are several things that we are working on now on the modular refineries and what government\u2019s own participation is all about.<\/p>\n<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cWe are also trying to work out a template for implementing this decision on modular refineries.
