{"id":13819,"date":"2017-03-25T18:28:17","date_gmt":"2017-03-25T18:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=13819"},"modified":"2017-03-25T18:28:17","modified_gmt":"2017-03-25T18:28:17","slug":"dss-bombs-magu-again-he-is-a-thief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=13819","title":{"rendered":"DSS BOMBS MAGU AGAIN: &#8220;HE IS A THIEF&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490420892263_4065\" class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The Department of State Security Services, DSS, has released a memo accusing the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, of theft, and other misdeeds.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490420892263_4069\" class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">This shocking disclosure, was made in a leaked memo addressed to the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Abubakar Malami, by the DSS.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490420892263_4070\" class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The document sighted and reported by Sahara Reporters reads thus:<\/p>\n<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\">\u201cMagu\u2019s alleged integrity issues dates back to 2010. The first annexure in the memo referred to that year\u2019s indictment of the acting EFCC Chairman by the Police Service Commission after a disciplinary process and that severely reprimanded him for \u201caction prejudicial to state security, withholding of EFCC files, sabotage, unauthorized removal of EFCC files and acts unbecoming of a Police Officer\u201d.<\/div>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490420892263_4074\" class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The memo noted that severe reprimand is the highest punishment, other than dismissal or compulsory retirement for errant conduct by a Police Officer.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490420892263_4077\" class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The second annexure was a copy of an alleged confessional statement made by Air Commodore Mohammed Umar, which affirmed his proprietorship of Valour SA Nigeria Limited, the beneficiary of a contract awarded by the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA), for the security and furnishing of Mr. Magu\u2019s official residence. Air Commodore Umar was detained by the DSS for several months, despite a court ruling asking for his release, he is currently under surveillance, which revealed that the contract he got was with the help of Mr. Magu, who had earlier been shown the house by one Uche, a close business associate of Umar introduced to him by the acting EFCC Chairman.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=12716&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The third annexure attached was a cooked up memo, purportedly from the Office of the Vice President recovered from Mr. Umar\u2019s residence during a DSS search.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">\u201cThe document is a request for approval to commence further investigation into financial activities of Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachiukwu. Also attached to the memo are two genuine investigation reports by EFCC on the Honourable Minister, dated\u00a0 March 24, 2016, and duly signed by Magu. One of these two attachments indicates that the original investigation report was purportedly received in the VP\u2019s office, by one Folabo Kay,\u201d the memo stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The fourth annexure was a letter from the Vice President\u2019s office, indicating that the document was forged. Next up was an annexure, which was a copy of the progress report ( Ref No. SH\/COS\/ 24\/A\/7277) and dated May 25, 2016, on the Nigerian National Petroleum \/ Natural Liquefied Gas Brass Investment Accounts in commercial Banks. The report was issued by Mr. Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, and addressed to Mr. Magu.<\/p>\n<p><code><a href=\"http:\/\/market.jumia.com.ng\/men-shoes\/?utm_source=pap&amp;utm_medium=aff&amp;utm_campaign=e3cafeeb&amp;a_aid=Omafume&amp;a_bid=e3cafeeb\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/\/kaymu.postaffiliatepro.com\/accounts\/default1\/a72f75b38\/e3cafeeb.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"60\" \/><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"http:\/\/kaymu.postaffiliatepro.com\/scripts\/a72f75i38?a_aid=Omafume&amp;a_bid=e3cafeeb\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/code><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The document, said the DSS memo, was an official\/classified document of the EFCC, duly received by the Commission, but was recovered at Mr. Umar\u2019s private residence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">Also attached are photocopies of Manager\u2019s cheques of banks issued in favor of the EFCC Recovery Funds Accounts of May 13\u00a0 and May 16, 2016, both found in Mr. Umar\u2019s home. Similarly, so was a classified letter from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to Mr. Magu, requesting him to freeze the account of Messrs. Bebey Merchant Limited and 20 others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">In addition, the DSS memo claimed that a document emanating from the NNPC and addressed to Mr. Magu on May 6, 2016, responding to the EFCC\u2019s request to stop debit order on all Joint Venture and NNPC Pension Funds Accounts, was found in Mr. Umar\u2019s home. Many other documents the memo revealed, were found in the home of Umar, Magu\u2019s friend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">This moved the DSS to write: \u201cAn officer appointed as acting Chairman of EFCC, should by all means, be one of impeccable credentials, with proven integrity and capacity to lead the nation\u2019s fight against graft in high and low places. Thus far, it is evident from Magu\u2019s antecedents that he is by no means that kind of officer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11832\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSS-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSS-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSS-272x182.jpg 272w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSS.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv6642501220MsoNormal\">The DSS also argued that the fact that Magu had previously been indicted, yet chose to disclose classified information to his allegedly tainted friend, advertises him as an offender incapable of remorse.
