{"id":12878,"date":"2017-01-06T21:15:02","date_gmt":"2017-01-06T21:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=12878"},"modified":"2017-01-06T21:17:43","modified_gmt":"2017-01-06T21:17:43","slug":"again-niger-delta-companies-individuals-sidelines-in-list-of-oil-bidders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=12878","title":{"rendered":"Again, Niger Delta Companies, Individuals Sideline in List of Oil Lifting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><a href=\"https:\/\/btclab.io\/?ref=Omafume\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/btclab.io\/banners\/320x100.gif\" width=\"544\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/code><\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">What was expected to bring a long lasting peace to the Niger Delta region, seems to have been lost; following an announcement on Wednesday, January 5, by \u00a0President Muhammadu Buhari, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Corporation while announcing the 40 individuals and companies, who made the list for oil bidders in the region, stated that only 3 were mentioned to have come from the Niger Delta region.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Big wings such as: Wale Tinubu, (Oando Oil), Toye Cole\u2019s (Sahara Energy Resources), Uche Ogah\u2019s (Masters Energy), Sayyu Dantata\u2019s (MRS Oil), and 36 other companies, were announced winners of the crude oil term contract.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">These companies, will have the license for the purchasing and lifting of 1.306 million barrels per day, of Nigeria\u2019s crude oil for 2017\/2018, beginning January 1, 2017.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Named among the big firms include: Sahara, Trafigura, Duke Oil, and Master Energy, each of which is to lift a minimum of 32,000 barrels per day.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The companies had applied for the contracts in June 2016; said the NNPC Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division, COMD, Mele Kyari.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said the contract, which is to run for one year effective of 1st January, 2017, \u201cis for consecutive twelve circles of crude oil allocation.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAll the contracts are for 32,000 barrels per day, except Duke Oil Ltd, an oil trading arm of the NNPC, which shall be for 90,000 barrels per day,\u201d Kyari said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">However many Analysts have criticized the contract, citing cases of lop-sidedness, which was one thing the militants in the Niger Delta region have been fighting against.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr. Bruno Koromo, a Spokesman of one of the militant groups, said in report <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1589721571\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Thursday<\/span><\/span> afternoon, that the action of the NNPC, was a confirmation of the fact that the injustice in the region is yet to be addressed.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe have it on good authority, that more than 40 of the applications from the indigenes of the Niger Delta, had only three considered for the contracts, and were given the least of volume of crude to lift.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOf course, we have been insisting that the government is not serious in settling the crisis of confidence that has been prevailing in the region, which makes it possible for the land producing crude and suffering all hardship, as a result not to benefit from their God given wealth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">An Expert, John Udeh, said there was some injustice in the allotment of the blocs to some companies that were eventually considered, adding: \u201cthere is a need to review the exercise, to assure the militants that their cries were being listened to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">However, the NNPC Group Managing Director of the Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru, defending the action of his outfit said: \u201cWe will ensure transparency and fairness in the process.
