{"id":11966,"date":"2016-10-17T21:59:43","date_gmt":"2016-10-17T21:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=11966"},"modified":"2016-10-17T21:59:43","modified_gmt":"2016-10-17T21:59:43","slug":"24-hour-curfew-declared-in-kadunas-lga-as-fulani-herdsmen-kill-20-take-over-chiefdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=11966","title":{"rendered":"24-hour Curfew Declared In Kaduna\u2019s LGA, As Fulani Herdsmen Kill 20, Take Over Chiefdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Fulani-herdsmen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8831\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Fulani-herdsmen.jpg\" alt=\"Fulani herdsmen\" width=\"275\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a>A 24 hours curfew has been imposed in the entire Jena\u2019a local<br \/>\ngovernment council of Kaduna State following the killing of over 20 persons\u00a0including security personnel in Godogodo chiefdom by alleged herdsmen.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">LEADERSHIP gathered that the herdsmen who have taken control of the\u00a0Godogodo chiefdom, had since Saturday 6 pm, attacked a military\u00a0outpost advanced to other villages and killed about 20 people, burnt\u00a0several houses in the area.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The operations of the herdsmen who were heavily armed was said to have\u00a0heightened tension between the Christian community and the Hausa\/Fulani Muslims in Kafanchan, the headquarters of the local government thereby forcing the council to impose the 24-hours curfew.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=11162&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\"><\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Interim Management Committee Chairman, of Jema\u2019a council Area, Dr.\u00a0Bege Katuka who announced the curfew, advised residents to remain\u00a0indoor pending when the situation would be put under control.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kafanchan is the Headquarters of Jema\u2019a LGA, about 250 km South of\u00a0Kaduna metropolis and also the commercial and socio-political hub of\u00a0Southern Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Godogodo, headquarters of Godogodo Chiefdom, of which alleged herdsmen\u00a0have killed scores from its adjoining villages forcing the eviction of\u00a0nine communities since July this year.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A survivor, Mr. Zamani Andy told our correspondent that the herdsmen\u00a0had been under invasion by the armed men for two days with a\u00a0substantial part of the town razed; women and children killed in the\u00a0inferno.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSome who tried to escape where shot or cut down with machete, the\u00a0Herdsmen have taken over the chiefdom, the Chief is on exile, nobody\u00a0know is where about as speak with you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Another local community leader who escapes by whisky narrated that\u00a0\u201clast Saturday, around 6pm, we heard gunshots from around Anguwan\u00a0Ninzon area. As people were running, women and children screaming. I\u00a0saw many Fulani men carrying heavy guns and just shooting at people.<\/p>\n<p>Some houses were set on fire with people inside. If I tell you how I<br \/>\nmanaged to escaped, I will say I\u2019m lying. I just followed some old men\u00a0and we ran through a bush path with shootings going on all over the\u00a0town. Some were shot, but many of us escaped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Kaduna State Police Spokesman, ASP Aliyu Usman affirmed the violence, saying at least two policemen had been killed in an earlier raid near Gogogodo last Friday; and that a police formation was attacked in Godogodo before the invaders faced the town last Saturday\u00a0evening.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said that Kaduna State Police Commissioner had deployed more units\u00a0of Mobile and conventional policemen to the place for more<br \/>\nre-enforcement.
