School Abraka, \u00a0Mr. Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, has said that the Delta State Government press statement recently debunking allegations of child trafficking by officials of the ministry of women affairs was anti-child and meant to mislead the public.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><code><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=11094&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<div><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347455798\">This was contained in a press release signed by Aghogho yesterday in Warri.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347767230\">\u00a0According to him, \u201cThe said press statement by Mr. Patrick Ukah, Commissioner for Information on the child trafficking issue is a dupe, anti-child, anti-human, it is criminal, a calculated attempt to hoodwink the general public.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347931733\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347938719\">\u201cThe statement is a deliberate ploy by the government to ensure that the ministry of women affairs continue to perpetuate further crimes against the Delta Children.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348028951\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348029768\">Aghogho said that that the Commissioner description of the allegations as laughable and unthinkable is a source of worry.<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348137821\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348139962\">He insisted that accommodation of children who were brought by the ministry of women affairs to various registered homes\/orphanages across the state without a court order amounts to child trafficking under the Delta State Child Rights 2008.<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348261151\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348262098\">Aghogho maintained that the continued accommodation of children without a legal order is a desecration if the child rights.<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348433536\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348438914\">\u201cIt is unlawful to transfer children from registered homes\/orphanages with the ministry letterhead paper to prospective adopters across the world without an order of court.<a id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476348628325\">Aghogho added further that the authorization by the ministry in their letterhead paper to prospective adopters to scout for children of their choice in the registered homes\/orphanages across the state without a court order is illegal.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><script async id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476103478758\">It will be recalled that the Delta State government recently refuted media reports that some of its officials are involved in child trafficking describing such insinuations as not only laughable but unimaginable.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476098718433\">The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, in a statement released in Asaba yesterday (Oct 10, 2016) advised members of the public to see the allegation as spurious as the state government or any of its officials are not involved in such act.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476098830883\">He clarified that the state government adheres strictly to relevant laws guiding adoption of suspected orphans and adoption processes, adding that the state Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development usually keeps records of adoption and not adoption register as contained in the reports as such document belong to the court.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476098911528\">Mr. Ukah said that an abandoned child, in most cases, is not found by Social Welfare Officers but by good Samaritans who usually takes such a child to the police station for documentation before handing the child over to Social Welfare Officers who in turn will take the child to an approved orphanage home.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1475853428003\">Thereafter, according to the Commissioner for Information, the Social Welfare Officers will begin to make enquiries to know if the parents or mother of the child can be traced and this will last for, at least, three months before the issue of adoption will come up.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1475853443649\">Mr. Ukah further stated that the adoption process begins with temporary placement for at least three months to allow for proper bonding between the child and the adopter\/s before a court will give an enrolment of order and the adopter\/s will get the original copy, while the ministry keeps a photo copy.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1475767535447\">On the illegal orphanage homes operating in the state as claimed by the petitioner and source of the story, Mr. Ighorhiohwumu Aghogho, the Information Commissioner disclosed that a total of 27 approved orphanage homes, including that of the petitioner, Explosive Academy, operate in the state and are registered by the state Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476099403086\">Mr. Ukah emphasized that for Mr. Aghogho to address a press conference after petitioning the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), \u00a0Abuja, suing the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development to court, and inditing the ministry and all agencies of government, including the Delta State House of Assembly, is not only a misnomer but mischievous.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m_8717178708532136741yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476099859711\">The Information Commissioner stated that the allegations by Mr. Aghogho was an act calculated to tarnish the image of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development and the entire state.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1476347936861\"><span
