Lassa<br \/>\nfever infections have similar symptoms to Ebola.<\/p>\n<p>Their work sequenced the virus genomes from 78 patients<br \/>\nand traced the outbreak in Sierra Leone to a funeral of a<br \/>\nhealer, which a pregnant Kenema Government Hospital<br \/>\nEbola patient and other women who were also infected had<br \/>\nattended.<\/p>\n<p>Two months before his death, Khan had described the<br \/>\ndangers of treating people with the disease, telling Reuters<br \/>\nhe feared for his life.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ebola-virus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1113\" alt=\"Ebola virus\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ebola-virus.jpg\" width=\"160\" height=\"218\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Five co-authors of the latest study on Ebola were killed by the virus before their research was published, highlighting the huge risks undertaken by those working to combat its spread.
