{"id":11045,"date":"2016-08-21T22:10:45","date_gmt":"2016-08-21T22:10:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=11045"},"modified":"2016-08-21T22:10:45","modified_gmt":"2016-08-21T22:10:45","slug":"takasu-japanese-rewards-siasia-u-23-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=11045","title":{"rendered":"Takasu, Japanese rewards Siasia, U-23 team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=9962&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A Japanese plastic surgeon, Dr Katsuya Takasu will be delivering $390,000 to Nigeria\u2019s Dream Team VI, as reward for the team\u2019s winning of bronze medal at the Rio Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s U-23 team beat Honduras 3-2 for the bronze today.<\/p>\n<p>Raphael Kibe, Charge d\u2019affaires of the Nigerian embassy in Tokyo broke the news of the donation in a letter dated 18 August.<\/p>\n<p>He said Takasu, who travelled to Brazil to watch the match, \u00a0will give Coach Samson Siasia $200,000, while John \u00a0Mikel Obi will collect $190,000 on behalf of the team.<\/p>\n<p>The money has been handed over to the team.<\/p>\n<p>The donation became a subject of controversy today, when former Nigerian goalkeeper, Idah Peterside, accused the officials of the Nigerian Football Federation of planning to hijack the gift.<\/p>\n<p>But later he tweeted that the surgeon will be handing over the money directly to the team and the coach.<\/p>\n<p>In its reaction, the\u00a0NFF \u00a0blasted Idah\u00a0and accused him of mischief.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick posted on the NFF website, \u201cHis message was a lie, an atrocious false alarm before an important match.<\/p>\n<p><code><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had exchanged correspondence with the Honourable Minister on the issue of the donation and we agreed that there was need for caution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe minister said to me that he read the donation in the papers and had expressed serious concern. I also received a mail from the NFF Integrity Officer who expressed very serious concern with this kind of donation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got in touch with the Ambassador of Nigeria to Brazil and the Honourable Minister to say that whatever had to be done should be done after the bronze medal match to avoid any distractions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NFF may be having financial challenges, but I assure you nobody in the Federation is interested in that money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we get the government\u2019s go-ahead to collect the money, no official of the NFF will be involved even in the collection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe money will be received directly by the team,\u2019\u2019 Pinnick was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Katsuya, the donor\u00a0was born on 22\u00a0January 22, 1945 in Isshiki, Aichi, Japan.
