{"id":10907,"date":"2016-08-16T21:58:28","date_gmt":"2016-08-16T21:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=10907"},"modified":"2016-08-16T21:58:28","modified_gmt":"2016-08-16T21:58:28","slug":"harvard-stanford-california-universities-top-academic-ranking-of-world-universities-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=10907","title":{"rendered":"Harvard, Stanford, California Universities top academic ranking of world universities 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=9856&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A release by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), showed that 10 universities including Harvard ranked at the top of Shanghai Ranking\u2019s Academic of World Universities (ARWU) for 2016.<\/p>\n<div class=\"node-content\">\n<div class=\"section field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item odd\">\n<p>A statement from ARWU, which showed a new list on Tuesday by China&#8217;s Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, in Shanghai, said that all the top 10 universities last year retained their place in the top 10 for 2016.<br \/>\nThe first 20 top universities on the ranking lists include Harvard University, Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, University of Cambridge, one of the oldest universities in the world, founded in 1209, Princeton University, University of Oxford, Mas<a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Colleges-and-universities.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10908\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10908\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Colleges-and-universities-300x133.jpg\" alt=\"Colleges-and-universities\" width=\"300\" height=\"133\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Colleges-and-universities-300x133.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Colleges-and-universities.jpg 574w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>sachusetts Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n<div>Others include California Institute of Technology, Columbia University, University of Chicago, Yale University and University of California, Los Angeles, Cornell University, University of California, San Diego,<\/div>\n<p>Others are University of Washington, Johns Hopkins University, University College London, University of Pennsylvania, ETH Zurich, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, and University of Tokyo for the Asia\/Pacific region.<br \/>\nThe statement said that the ranking results confirmed Harvard University as number one in the world for the fourteenth year running.<br \/>\nShanghaiRanking Consultancy noted that Harvard, a highly residential university with a strong emphasis on research and had produced 62 living billionaires, 150 Nobel Laureates and eight U.S. presidents.<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It stated that Stanford University also retained second place while Berkeley and University of Cambridge both dropped one place.<br \/>\nThe report said that eight of the top universities are in the U.S. with Oxford and Cambridge completing the list of elite institutions in the top 10.<br \/>\n&#8220;One Swiss and one Japanese university make it to the top 20.<br \/>\nShanghaiRanking Consultancy noted that Asia for the first time broke a new ground in this year\u2019s ranking, with universities in China and Singapore in the top 100 for the first time.<br \/>\n&#8220;Tsinghua University in China is the country\u2019s best university in 58th position, and the National University of Singapore is the country\u2019s top entry at position 83.<br \/>\nIt said that ETH Zurich was the 19th in overall took first place in continental Europe, while the University of Copenhagen the 31st in Denmark overtook Pierre &amp; Marie Curie (39th) in France, as the second best European university outside the UK.<br \/>\n&#8220;The University of Melbourne was in the 40th place and the highest performing country in Oceania.<br \/>\nShanghaiRanking Consultancy noted that in total, 500 universities are ranked from across the world based on six indicators.<br \/>\nThese include the number of award-winning staff and alumni and the number of articles published in prestigious journals of Nature and Science.<br \/>\nShanghaiRanking Consultancy noted that outside the top 100, universities are banded into groups of 50 or 100 to accommodate statistically insignificant variations in scores at this level.<br \/>\nThe ARWU has been published annually since 2013 by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.<br \/>\nIt provides a different view of the best universities in the world to the Times Higher Education&#8217;s World University Rankings 2016 which ranks 800 universities.
