{"id":10470,"date":"2016-07-29T18:44:45","date_gmt":"2016-07-29T18:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=10470"},"modified":"2016-07-29T18:44:45","modified_gmt":"2016-07-29T18:44:45","slug":"management-of-nigeria-schools-linked-with-coup-slams-turkish-government-for-baseless-allegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=10470","title":{"rendered":"Management of Nigeria schools linked with coup slams Turkish government for baseless allegation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<p><code><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=9481&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>The management of the Nigerian-Turkish International Colleges (NTIC) says the government of Turkey is insulting Nigeria by requesting the closure of its schools in the country.<br \/>\nSpeaking on Wednesday during a meeting with Shehu Sani, vice-chairman of the senate committee on foreign affairs, Hakan Cakil, the Turkish ambassador to Nigeria, had asked the government to shut down the 17 Turkish schools in the country.<br \/>\nHe said that the owners of the schools were members of the Fethullah Gulen movement, which allegedly plotted the botched July 15 coup in Turkey.<br \/>\nHe also alleged that the owners of the schools used proceeds from their investment in Nigeria for criminal activities.<br \/>\nBut in a statement on Friday, Orhan Kertim, managing director of the schools, described the request of the Turkish government as baseless and unfounded, saying that although the NTIC schools in Nigeria are Turkish in name, they are actually Nigerian in deeds.<br \/>\n\u201cThe NTIC is not a Turkish government-run institution, but a privately funded institution by a group of Turkish investors,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cAs a responsible organisation operating in Nigeria since 1998, we are conversant with the laws of the land and we have to the best of our ability abided by these stipulations.<br \/>\n\u201cThe call therefore by the Turkish ambassador is not only baseless, but it is also unfounded and of poor taste.<br \/>\n\u201cNigeria is a sovereign country and call by the Turkish ambassador is not only an affront on the sovereignty of the Nigerian nation, but a display of crass ignorance.<br \/>\n\u201cThe NTIC schools in Nigeria are Turkish in name, but Nigerian in deeds. We are partners in progress as evident in all our activities since 1998.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Reacting to this development a Nigerian, Mr. Charles Mbat said: &#8220;The Turkish schools in Nigeria have been in place decades now, and the Turkish govt through its embassy have associated itself with these schools in years pasts. Can Turkish embassy say they never ever vouched for OR make credence for these Turkish schools in Nigeria?<br \/>\nThe Turkish govt have been indiscriminate in its arrests of over 8000 people (both Military and civilian) alleged to be part of the botched coup in Turkey.<br \/>\nIn furtherance of its indiscriminate accussations, the Turkish govt is at the brink of dragging Nigeria into the fray with the allegations that the Nigerian-Turkish schools funded the coup.
