{"id":10217,"date":"2016-07-20T17:21:51","date_gmt":"2016-07-20T17:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=10217"},"modified":"2016-07-20T17:28:04","modified_gmt":"2016-07-20T17:28:04","slug":"state-governors-lack-vision-they-are-parasites-and-depend-solely-on-federation-accounts-ogun-state-gov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=10217","title":{"rendered":"State Governors lack vision, they are &#8220;parasites&#8221;, and depend solely on Federation Accounts &#8211; Ogun State Gov."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<div>State Governors are re\u00adsponsible for Nigeria\u2019s economic problems due to their poor lead\u00adership, lack of vision and cre\u00adativity, says Governor Ibikunle<a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Gov-Amosun-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10218\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10218\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Gov-Amosun-1-300x244.jpg\" alt=\"Gov-Amosun-1\" width=\"300\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Gov-Amosun-1-300x244.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Gov-Amosun-1.jpg 589w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> Amosun of Ogun State.<\/div>\n<div>Amosun said the nation\u2019s present economic crisis was traceable to the inability of the 36 states\u2019 governors of the fed\u00aderation to evolve workable pol\u00adicies to address the challenges facing their people.<\/div>\n<div>Governor Amosun, who passed the damning verdict on his colleagues, affirmed that if the governors had the capaci\u00adty to think outside the box, the economy would not have got this current worrisome level.<\/div>\n<div>Amosun stated this on Tuesday when he hosted the organised private sector to a breakfast meeting at the Government House, Isale Igbein, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.<\/div>\n<div>He observed that the gover\u00adnors did not prepare for the try\u00ading period, adding that instead of looking inwards to generate revenues to develop their states, they were complacent and relied largely on allocations from the Federation Accounts.<\/div>\n<div>Governor Amosun told his audience that the \u201cera of free money from Abuja\u201d had gone, noting that the development had made governors endangered species before their people.<\/div>\n<div>He charged his colleagues to see the huge fall in Nigeria\u2019s rev\u00adenue due to the global crash in oil prices as an opportunity to \u201cthink out of the box.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>The governor said he would have preferred that the oil price in the international market did not rise beyond its current level \u2013 so that Nigerian leaders could start thinking big and placing the interests of the people first.<\/div>\n<div>Amosun declared that cheap oil revenue had made Nigerians lazy, stressing that the way for\u00adward was a strong partnership between the public and the pri\u00advate sector so that the nation\u2019s economy could be revitalised.<\/div>\n<div>The governor said: \u201cWhen there are challenges, people are forced to think out of the box and they will get results. If I have my way, I don\u2019t want the oil price to rise beyond what it is so that all of us will be forced to get it right.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cYou will notice that before the advent of oil, when our fore\u00adbears were in leadership, Nige\u00adria was better than what it is now but the people opted for quick money and that has landed us into trouble,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<div>On the bailout funds giv\u00aden to the states by the Federal Government to clear the back\u00adlog of workers\u2019 salaries, Amo\u00adsun said that the \u201clargesse\u201d had compounded the problems for the governors.<\/div>\n<div>He said: \u201cSince we were giv\u00aden bailouts, governors have be\u00adcome endangered species be\u00adcause people believe that they collected this (bailout) mon\u00adey and cannot pay salaries be\u00adcause they have mismanaged the money.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cDo you know why? Every\u00adbody was so complacent. Peo\u00adple would just say \u2018no prob\u00adlem, allocation is coming from Abuja\u2019 and wouldn\u2019t think out of the box and when the mon\u00adey stopped flowing, because we didn\u2019t prepare for it, crisis came.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cNow everybody is down.
