MEND, explained<br \/>\nthe statement, took the decision to have the NDA<br \/>\nincluded in its peace effort after observing that the<br \/>\ngroup is willing to embrace dialogue.<br \/>\nThat willingness, said MEND, could be gleaned from<br \/>\nan exclusive interview granted by the NDA and<br \/>\npublished by Vanguard on 11 July.<br \/>\n&#8220;After an in-depth study and thorough analysis of<br \/>\nthe interview, MEND is glad to note that the NDA<br \/>\nhave finally, welcomed dialogue on the Niger Delta<br \/>\nquestion as the only credible and sustainable<br \/>\nsolution to the festering Niger Delta question.<br \/>\n&#8220;With this development, it has become more<br \/>\nimperative for the entire Niger Delta region to unite<br \/>\nand speak with a single voice under a single<br \/>\numbrella in the forthcoming dialogue on the Niger<br \/>\nDelta question with the Government of President<br \/>\nMuhammadu Buhari. &#8220;The single umbrella is<br \/>\nthe MEND Aaron Team 2 Peace Initiative, headed by<br \/>\nMr. Odein Ajumogobia ( SAN),&#8221; declared MEND.<br \/>\nThe group added that it has received firm<br \/>\nassurances from the Federal Government about its<br \/>\nreadiness to dialogue with the Aaron Team. This,<br \/>\nMEND explained, has created a desire to expand<br \/>\nthe representational capacity of the Aaron Team to<br \/>\naccommodate the (NDA). The group, however, gave<br \/>\nterms to be met.<br \/>\nThe first of these, said MEND, is that the NDA must<br \/>\npublicly renounce all forms of violence through an<br \/>\nunconditional ceasefire.<br \/>\n&#8220;By virtue of the extant provisions of the<br \/>\nPresidential Amnesty Proclamation of 2009, all<br \/>\nNiger Delta Avengers (NDA) fighters and<br \/>\ncommanders who agree to ceasefire are<br \/>\nautomatically entitled to benefit from the<br \/>\nPresidential Amnesty Programme after due<br \/>\ndiligence and documentation by the office of the<br \/>\nNational Security Adviser and the Presidential<br \/>\nAmnesty office headed by Brigadier General Paul<br \/>\nBoroh (rtd),&#8221; MEND stated.<br \/>\nSecond, demanded MEND, is the NDA must publicly<br \/>\ndeclare full allegiance to the country and recognise<br \/>\nBuhari as the country&#8217;s President and Commander-<br \/>\nin- Chief. The third condition listed offers the NDA<br \/>\nthe opportunity to nominate one delegate to<br \/>\nrepresent the group and articulate its demands.<br \/>\nIn addition, MEND demanded that the NDA must<br \/>\nmake a public declaration to abide by the outcome<br \/>\nof the proposed dialogue between the Federal<br \/>\nGovernment and the Aaron Team 2 Initiative.<br \/>\nShould the NDA agree to the terms listed and<br \/>\ncommunicate its agreement within seven<br \/>\ndays from 15 July, MEND concluded, it will be<br \/>\nregarded as a genuine partner in the Niger Delta<br \/>\nstruggle.<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><br \/>\n <!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has given conditions for the inclusion of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) in its negotiating team for the proposed dialogue with Federal Government towards the resolution of the latest crisis in the Niger Delta.
