The only product that I know in Nigeria that is source of our foreign earning is not groundnut, cocoa, limestone or bauxite, It is oil. Yet we have a few recalcitrant troupe in your government who still believe that we are making progress and will soon be able to optimize productions.<\/p>\n<p>I am afraid sir that with the way we are going and with the failed militarization of the oil belt of Nigeria whose soldiers only prevarication is to harass defenseless citizens on our waterways, we may wake up one morning and find to our peril that there is no crude oil anywhere to consummate our quota in the global oil.<\/p>\n<p>Even with the shortfall in production in Nigeria, the prize per Barrel of the product is still below the 50 dollar mark, which makes one to wonder what the price would become if there is a glut in the market in the event of Nigeria being able to meet its OPEC quotient. This puts the onus on you as the Commander in Chief to think of an alternative economy not just in terms of expressing a pious intention or making an official statement, but in terms of putting in place a priority of actions towards reordering our National economic headwinds.<\/p>\n<p>A Nation with Scientists that cannot trouble shoot in the binary derivatives of its national product base. A Nation where everybody wants some linking with white collar preferences, where the Government alone account for eighty percent participation in the public sector, where the banks look to Government outlets to empower its corporate obligations rather than creating product preneurs from where we can develop an unfettered free market economy to drive an emerging national enterprise is bound to fail if it has not developed sufficient grund norm in stabilizing its indigenous mechanisms.<\/p>\n<p>Three issues agitate the temerity of this simple discourse sir. First, the will of the Nations Economic team- what constitute the impetus from where cost benefit analysis is evaluated. Second, the circumstance of the Executive objectives- to what extent can the Commander in Chief be able to learn that governing in diversity in a chequered world riddled with contradictory diplomacy will entail give and take mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>In which case how much would it cost the Executive to learn that Nigeria is no longer an imperial State and so cannot be administered by local compradores who are swung back and forth by the ill wind blowing from the tempestuous rage of their metropolitan controllers and thirdly, the peoples desire for a growth economy- that growth is not a factor of conventional wisdom but a product of a collective will triggered through a supply demand interface that does not necessarily depend on Government for its subsistence. That where an economy fails to grow and people are worse for it, that there is the chance that you may end up as one term President<\/p>\n<p>The foregoing sir, puts you on the driving seat in the equation to resolve the emerging contradictions in our socio economy. First, You must allow this Nation succeed. That the survival of Nigeria is beyond recovering looted funds but in pragmatically responding to balancing of trade between government and the private enterprise to allow for a market mechanism through which the relations of productions and the links through which its labor quotient is served are objectified. In which case, you must create the material conditions through which the private enterprise can consummate the national objectives.<\/p>\n<p>The CBN, NPA, Customs and Excise, and other agencies of Government responsible for regulating prize dynamics in the domestic market must be aware that its action plus or minus, whose implications are not thoroughly thought out can reel out counter productive effects in the daily lives of the people. We cannot stop the importation of certain items just because we dont want to mortgage our forex reserve in their exchange when we have not created conditions for the manufacture of the items locally. Sir, you cannot justify the bag of rice at the cost of twenty thousand naira. The one you eat in the villa is bought for you through tax payers funds. The one the people eat are bought from their hard earned income conserved from menial engagements which your recent fiscal policies want to destroy.<\/p>\n<p>This is where Governmental will and composite intendments are required. Government must be sincere that it is practically willing to change the circumstance of its people in its reasonable dealings with them. Take for example Edo State. A situation where the Government is already in the run to establish another State University when it has an existing State University whose infrastructure has not been fully developed cannot be justified under any explanation.<\/p>\n<p>At best what that Government can do is to extend a Campus of the existing University and not to start a new State University. To go that way is to take the people for granted. It will not work. Finally, it remains to be said that while Government works at the different front of creating palliatives for the take of private incentives to diversify the economy, it must avoid measure that will allow private monopolies to surface. In the same vein, You must begin working on the prospect of negotiating with key stakeholders of the Niger Delta.<\/p>\n<p>Using Traditional rulers of the Niger Delta and assuming they are the stakeholders of the region is missing the point badly. Traditional rulers are generally perceived as agents of the Government in their domain and in most cases cannot speak for the people. Stakeholders should be major players in the Niger Delta whose words are laws and who have the propensity to curtail violent actions in the region- people like Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, Daniel Reyeniejul, James Manager, Preye Aganaba, Asari Dokubo, Timi Alaibe, Ayemidejor Austine, Hon Monday Ovwigho Igbuya, Henry Baro, Oyibo Mohammed Adjarho. These are the stakeholders who can hold the fort in these discussions and until Government is ready to invite them for a meeting it will just be beating a drum with no dancers in sight. The time is now. Lets shun the pride which lead people and nations to no purposeful ends and embrace the path of dialogue. You are known for your stern will and rare integrity but integrity without a human face is useless to society and socio conscience. The time to be relevant to the people is now.
